Study release and media echo

“There is a continuous slate of articles, features, and other coverage that tackle “disinformation” in light of the super election year of 2024. Again and again people are asking: Can targeted disinformation campaigns manipulate opinions and influence elections? We are obviously asking ourselves these questions, too. At the same time, we want to know in how far we might be stuck in our own “bubble” and whether society at large agrees. The results of our representative survey, which my colleague, Kai Unzicker, and I just published with the support of Lukas and Leonie from pollytix in our study “Disconcerted Public”, are as alarming as they motivate us (and people) to act.” — This is how Kai and I framed the results on our blog.

Following the release of our study in German and English on February 28, we were pleasently surprised and maybe at times a little overwhelmed by how much media attention was coming our way. The study results were covered by too many papers to name them all, Der SPIEGEL, Zeit online, Tagesspiegel, Rundschau and dozens more. In addition, I got to join the radioeins morning show, RTL news, a n-tv live commentary, BR24 and Welt TV. Other stations did their own reporting, such as ZDF heute, Deutschlandfunk, and ARD.
